"I am always at home and yet ever abroad
Present with and yet absent from Jesus my Lord,
For the World no desire or Affection I have
And yet for all my Powers I give;
I wander a Pilgrim and Stranger on Earth
Yet enjoying sweet rest & a free man by birth.
Of the world that I live in no Portion I claim
With the Heir of all things yet a joint Heir I am.
Lord hasten the Day when no longer abroad
I shall ever be present with Jesus my Lord;
When transfigured the Earth shall be holy and pure
And my love for the World shall forever endure.
Then a Pilgrim or Stranger no more I shall be
But eternally rest and forever be free;
And then as a Joint Heir with Jesus, I'll claim
An infinite Portion forever the same."
