Robby's Jr. Prom

Robby's Jr. Prom
was a great experience,
his date, Sarah, is an awesome girl,
who goes to the other Nauvoo
Ward, and I just love her.

Robby was voted by his fellow
students on to the Jr. Prom Court,
and the court photo was in the
area newspapers.

Here are some of his adventures
with the big day.

Fashion Show

Fashion Show Fun

The Nauvoo Quilt Guild holds a Fashion Show each year
This year Ashley and I were both in it.
I got adventurous this year.
We wont talk about my tripping twice during the show--Okay.
I decided to wear heals instead of the flats I practiced in, and
well, it was way embarrassing.--nuf said.

It was a fun experience.
I am looking forward to next year.

Shonnie in a tunic....hmm not as cute on the Mom, but the outfit was awesome.

Not the best photo quality due to the room lighting, but it was a fun dress.

I loved this black and white flourish print jacket

Easter Dresses

Easter Dresses

Ashley and I fun picking out and trying on
Easter Dresses.  It has been a long
long time since we both had
semi-matching outfits.

Yes, Ashley is taller than me, but
she was also wearing higher
heels than me that day too.

Happy Easter!

April Court of Honor--Troop 107

April's Court of Honor was nice as both boys
earned more merit badges, and
Joseph earned his Star Rank.

Robby received the Carpentry Merit Badge.
This was a badge he completed at the end of last year.
It was one of the Historical Badges brought back to
commemorate the 100 years of Boy Scouts.

Joseph worked really hard in the last few months
to learn CPR to complete badges he started at Camp,
and do a few new ones.  He earned Swimming, First Aid,
Family Life, Geneology, and Pathfinding.
Pathfinding was one of the Historical Badges brought back
to commemorate the 100 years of Boy Scouts.
Joseph also earned his Star Rank.

Relief Society Re-enactment at the Red Brick Store

The Cast of the Nauvoo Women's Retreat Relief Society Re-enactment,
March 24, 2011
I loved being upstairs in the Red Brick Store, it was a special
priviledge to be there and be part of this occasion.
I borrowed this dress, from Delmarae Menke,
which she made.
I was greatful to play the part of Bathesheba Smith.
What a wonderful blessing to be part of this cast with so many friends,
and a few new friends too.
My Friend, Pam, came to see the re-enactment and
give me moral support.  She is absolutely wonderful.

Ashley in the Play, "1940's Radio Hour"

Ashley as Debbie Debenededdie or "DeDe" in Warwaw High School's
Drama Performance of 1940's Radio Hour.
Pictured here doing a radio spot for Cashmere Bouquet Toilet Soap.

Ashley was one of the Beauti-fillies, singing a Pepsi-Cola Jingle.
"Nickel-Nickel...Pepsi Cola Hit's the Spot, 12 full ounces, that a lot....."

The Fillies were waiting for there turn for the next radio jingle
and would hold up Applause signs and react to what was
going on at the station, and of course they had time to
sit and file their fingernails too.

"Snowed In"

February 1st is usually cold......but this year for
Nauvoo it meant a big big snow storm
and not being able to get out of the drive way.
It also meant no school for a whole week,
until they could get the bus out to the
outlying area's in the county.

By the 5th, when the roads were safe, the children were
out to a local hill and went tubing.  Robert went to pick them up,
and on the way home announced to the surprise of all,
that he was taking the family on a trip to the
Quad Cities, to go tubing.  The have a small ski resort there
with a tubing hill that has a moving walkway to
take you back up to the top of the run.

The photo's below show how much snow we had at our home.

The snow was so high that we could
not see the two bottom steps.

The snow drifts came up to the back porch.

Roxi's dog run was full of snow,
and we couldn't get the door open.

Joseph quickly went to Roxi's aid,
and worked on digging her a path to get out.

He was exhausted by the time he was done!

Robert decided to take advantage of the
snow that had held us captive for a day or two,
and took the family tubing.  I wish I had gotten
more photo's but alas the camera was out of
batteries.  The children were happy about it however!
You gotta love Family Fun!--Even if it is in the cold...brrrr.
